With their fourth album
"Beautiful Midnight" hitting gold in 8 hours after release, Matthew Good Band is
touring Canada with a stop at the U of A to show off their new tunes. Their first release
"Hello Time Bomb" is quickly climbing the charts with many songs from their last
album still being played in regular rotation at local radio stations. "Theyre a
phenomenal live band", declares Darren Berg, chairman of Bear Country. "If
youre deciding which show to see in the next while, I strongly suggest that you
dont miss this one."
Past bands at Bear Country included: I Mother Earth, The
Watchmen, Headstones, Blue Rodeo, Spirit of the West, 54-40, The New Meanies, Econoline
Crush, and tonnes of local talent.
Bear Country began in 1968 with a group of men from the Delta
Kappa Epsilon Fraternity organizing a small party to raise funds for U of A athletic teams
and various charities. The party then grew to the Kinsmen Field House, and in 1986 it
moved into its current home the U of A Butterdome.
Organizers are pulling for a safe, yet good time for everyone.
Minors and intoxicated persons will be refused admission.
Tickets for Bear Country 99, Saturday September 25th,
are $20.00 and can be purchased at booths in HUB and CAB, through Ticketmaster, or from
members of Delta Kappa Epsilon. Doors open at 7:00pm, with bands beginning at 7:15.
